In the spotlight: rooftop access Amsterdam Loft Back to all blogs | Glazing Vision Europe | Spotlight-Daylight Amazing old school conversion to a beautiful light loft. In the Blankenstraat in Amsterdam the former public primary school transformed into loft appartments and offices. The large windows and high ceiling bring a feeling of space and light. For even more space the owners made the rooftop accessible and created a wonderful rooftop garden with nice views over Amsterdam. They used an enormous sleek, low-profile hinged opening skylight for easy access to the rooftop of this Amsterdam loft. Skydoor for Sky Only View roof access Glazing Vision was commissioned to manufacture the rooflight for the project, a electrical hinged Skydoor offering not only roof top access, but also ventilation and light in the loft. In order to have enough room to walk the stairs comfortably, we made this Skydoor extra large: more than 4 m2 of glass. Skydoor, ideal for terrace areas Skydoor is our most popular hinged access rooflight and is designed for day to day access to your roof space, ideal for terrace areas on flat roofs. Operated by our intelligent LED control switch, the unit will respond to both one touch and press and hold requests. The Skydoor opens out to an impressive 87° in less than a minute at full travel by means of synchronised dual actuators but you can also stop the unit at any point mid travel which means it can be used as a natural ventilation rooflight too. Quality and safety Safety features include current override sensors, anti slip threshold tread plate and also a three point infra red proximity detector system which will sense any movement beneath the opening section when in motion and prevent the lid from closing until the switch is engaged again. The Qualicoat approved polyester powder coated framework is supplied dual colour as standard and is thermally broken using a combination of 39mm polyamide breaks and closed cell PIR insulation.
